• International Festival of Owls in Houston, MN is in early-March.
• Bluebirds, Song Sparrows, male Red-winged Blackbirds, Killdeer, Great Blue Herons, Blue-winged Teal, Turkey Vultures, Hawks, Belted Kingfishers, Northern Flickers, Eastern Phoebes, Golden-crowned Kinglets, Swamp and Song Sparrows and Grackles arrive.
• Common Loons begin to arrive in mid-March.
• Goldfinches begin to molt into their brilliant yellow plumage.
• Great Blue Herons are in rookeries.
• Wood Ducks begin to arrive.
• Bald Eagles, Barred Owls and Screech Owls are sitting on their eggs.
• Woodpeckers are tapping to attract mates.
• First American Robins and Fox Sparrows return.
• Bohemian Waxwings are moving through the area.
• Woodcocks are doing courtship flights at dusk late March to early April.
• Ruffed Grouse begin drumming.
• Prairie Chickens are dancing.
• Sandhill Cranes can be seen migrating through the area.
• Spring Peepers, Wood Frogs and Chorus Frogs begin calling late in the month.
